In 2022, close to 1.34 thousand metric tons of organic soy sauce were exported from Japan, making up the organic product with the largest export volume that year.
The Act of Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS) certifies organic agricultural production through third-party inspections. Organic agricultural production, as defined by JAS, uses methods, which promote ecosystem health and refrain from using chemically synthesized fertilizers, pesticides, and genetic recombination technologies.
